FINALS!!!!!!!!!

AHH!! It's the dreaded time of year for students, finals! I have to say I'm glad it's him and not me. I don't miss those days of studying for 12 hours a day and only taking breaks to go eat. Chris has his finals on Dec 10th and 11th so everyone wish him lots of luck. It will be a milestone for us to get through this first semester. It's hard to believe we are going on 4 months of being here and it's been an eventful time for the both of us. Our friends who graduated from the program last December say it only gets harder from here. Oh boy I can't wait to see what that is going to bring. In fact Chris has been doing so much studying and reading that he has earned reading glasses. It is still awkward walking by an operating room and seeing my husband put people off to sleep but I am sure I will get used to it soon.

STEELER NATION

Well it's been a while since I last posted so here are some pictures of us from the Steeler vs Colt's game we went to. Chris had planned and paid for all of it long before we moved here so it was a big deal for him and not very many people can say they have been to a Pittsburgh Steeler game. They don't call it Steeler Nation for nothing. For most of the people who live here it's there life and it's about the only topic of conversation at work so I always cross my fingers for them to win on Sunday's so people are in a good mood on Monday. We lucked out big time because after we went to this game the temperatures have dropped significantly. Yesterday the high was 25 degrees and we have had snow off and on all week. They are forecasting snow for Thanksgiving so we will see if that holds true. Chris has started clinical now two days a week at my hospital which is going well for him. It's very weird to see him in my work environment since this is the first time we have ever worked in the same department. We are making a small Thanksgiving dinner here so hopefully the turkey turns out good! We would have gone to New Jersey this year but Chris has way too much to do before finals which are the second week in December. As for me I'm still trying to make friends here and settle into my new job. Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

Happy Anniversary

So this is a little late but none of the pictures that we took of us that night turned out that well so here is the dessert we had!.. We splurged and went out to a nice restaurant in downtown Pittsburgh to celebrate. Our dinners were very good and we had a nice bottle of wine. I can't believe it's already been a year!!

Happy Halloween!

I'm getting better at this blog thing!! Chris and I were invited to a Halloween party by one of his classmates. It was nice to get out and socialize with other people. If you couldn't figure it out by the pictures, Chris was Richard Simmons and I was the trainee. Everybody loved our costumes, however a lot of people thought I was dressed up as a pregnant lady-- NO THANKS! At least not right now. I wish I could tell you all about the exciting things we have been doing but it's just been everyday life around here. The weather is getting cold here, we got some snow but it didn't stick and the high the other day was 35 degrees, BRR!! I'm trying to get back into my Montana/Idaho mindset but that year and a half in Oregon spoiled me. Tomorrow is Chris' first day of clinical he is going to be at my hospital first so that ought to be interesting. I keep reminding myself we almost have one semester down....YEAH!!

FALL IS HERE!!!!!!!

Ok, ok I suck at this blog thing but I am working on it. I need to get a few more lessons from somebody who knows how to load pictures the painless way. Fall is defenitley here in Pittsburgh and the leaves are absolutely gorgeous here. Yesterday was our one year wedding anniversary!! It's hard to believe that over the course of the last two years we moved to Portland, got married, and now moved to Pittsburgh. I keep telling myself that all of these things are great life experiences and will only make for more interesting stories to tell our children someday. We celebrated with the champagne from our wedding and we our going to go out to dinner this coming Saturday since Chris is quite busy with school this week. Things just keep getting busier for him. The pictures I posted were taken at Fallingwater, it's the name of a Frank Lloyd Wright house here in PA that was built for the owners of Kaufmann's department store. The house is basically built on a hillside with a water fall flowing around it. The scenery was amazing and it was the perfect time of year to go as you can see by all the colors of the leaves. Chris was unable to go with me because of studying but I am trying to not let that hold me back from seeing all of these famous attractions that we are so close to. Hopefully on Saturday we are going to visit the Carnegie museum of national history here in Pittsburgh.

The latest from the BURGH!

So by now I'm sure everyone who has been following this blog is very bored. Well unfortunately I am very bored as well in Pittsburgh. I haven't really met any people yet and Chris is a bookworm. We are both making the most of it though and looking forward to October 20th to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary! Yeah we are so excited and very much in love. Last night the Nurse Anesthesia department hosted a welcome night for the students and their loved ones it was a nice event and I got to meet a lot of Chris' classmates and professors. It is a very prestigious program and I'm so proud of Chris for getting accepted. I have to brag because he was chosen out of 400 applicants. Most of the people in the program didn't travel as far as we did but we met some people from New York and Oklahoma that are suffering through the Pittsburgh transition. It was ironic how we identified the most with the people from New York, and they say Oregon is in the dark ages. Ha ha!

Today Chris and I are having our first lazy day in Pittsburgh! Just hanging out watching the leaves turn, rain come down and of course COLLEGE FOOTBALL!! By now most of you know Chris has a slight obsession with Boise State and well I have to admit I kind of like Espn College game day. I'm hoping we can go for a drive soon and get lots of pictures of the area and all the leaves there are a million trees here which I love. We live right next to a very large park that has an outdoor ice skating rink in the winter. Well I have probably blabbed enough by now but I am so glad fall is here and I got to say goodbye to that horrible thing called HUMIDITY! I hope to post some pics soon. Pittsburgh is a beautiful city with lots of old homes and buildings.

Settling In

We have been in Pittsburgh for a month now and we are starting to get things figured out a little better. It doesn't take us 2 hours to run an errand anymore (-: Chris has started school and is already studying a lot. He goes to class from 8-3 MT,TH, F and 8-7 on W. I've been working for the past week but in orientation learning how they do things here in Pittsburgh which is a lot different than the west coast. I am also becoming quite the driver in all of this traffic they have here, I'll never complain again about Portland's traffic. Before Chris' school started we went to the Phipps conservatory which is one of the best conservatories in the United States.

It was really neat to see and they had a lot of glass work in it from the Seattle artist who did the Bellagio hotel's lobby in Vegas. Hope you enjoy the pictures. We miss everyone a lot!

The Big Move

We arrived in Pittsburgh on Saturday August 2nd after 5 very long days on the road. Our tour included OR, ID, UT, WY, NE, IA, IN, IL, OH, and finally PA!!! This picture was taken after only two days uhhh can we just say we got a little carried away with bubble wrap and peanuts.

Oh well at least nothing broke. The look on my face explains just how I felt at that moment (well minus the smile).
